NBA Suspends Portland’s CJ McCollum For A Game
The NBA has handed CJ McCollum, Portland guard a game suspension. Why? For leaving the bench area during an altercation. The funny thing is… He did not engage anyone during this altercation. All CJ did was leave the bench and take a few steps or so onto the floor when Portland’s Caleb Swanigan and Phoenix’s Alex Len tussled in the fourth quarter.
I personally feel that CJ McCollum’s game suspension is unfair, even though it lasted only for one game. I would understand such actions by the NBA if he had gotten involved in the altercation. However, leaving the bench area merits a penalty under NBA rules.
He will have to miss the first game he is physically able to play. Meaning he will likely sit Portland’s opener on Wednesday in Phoenix. McCollum has missed only four games in the past two seasons. He averaged a career-best 23 points per game on 48 percent shooting last season.
